Individual

People come to therapy for a multitude of reasons. Whether it’s to cope with the stress of life, work through painful memories, heal a broken relationship, learn to cope with mental illness, or simply to better understand themselves and others. Meeting one-on-one with a therapist can help to identify and explore patterns, feelings, behaviors, influential and challenging memories, and identify ways to achieve personal goals. Duration of therapy can be as few as 5-6 sessions or several years depending on the needs of each person.

Couples

The purpose of couples therapy can be as simple as strengthening and maintaining a healthy relationship to ensure success or identifying negative patterns which promote disconnection in the intimate relationship. Couples therapy can help couples to disarm conflicting communication, increase intimacy, respect, and affection, and create increased understanding within the context of the relationship.

Conjoint

As a systems therapist, I believe that nothing exists in a vacuum. In certain circumstances it can be helpful to work toward goals as a team. I am happy to offer conjoint therapy for couples in collaboration with my colleague, Melissa Strombeck, IMFT. Through this process one person will meet with me for individual therapy, and one person will meet with Melissa for individual therapy. We will then meet together as a team to further achieve goals for your relationship. Melissa and I have found this to be abundantly helpful for individuals and couples pursuing positive change in their lives.

Trauma Focused

As a trained trauma specialist, I seek to assist people who have experienced a multitude of traumas achieve post-traumatic growth. Goals include re-experiencing, re-organizing, and releasing the trauma; in other words, enabling a person to create a healthier and more adaptive meaning of the event(s) and move from victim to survivor to thriver.
